Strokes of Genius 3

Today I received notification of acceptance of “Opaline Dreams” into the North Light Book “Strokes of Genius 3: The Best of Drawing”, scheduled to be released in October 2011.  I’m really happy to be accepted – I love this series of books, and routinely flip through them for inspiration.

CPSA Silent Auction Preview

The Silent Auction pieces are now posted on the CPSA website, and available for perusal.  What a great collection of small works – I want them all!  This year I’ll actually make the show early enough to participate in the silent auction, so I’ll get a chance to place some bids.  Now, the problem is narrowing it down!  You can view the pieces here.

Tuesday Small

Just about done!  Tomorrow I’ll hit it with a coat of fixative, then do a few tweaks and further color correction.

Work in Progress Update – 4/19

Monday Small

Picking up some steam, now.  There’s a point in every drawing where the hardest parts are done, and you get to play with colors and details.  Feels like I’ve reached it with this update.  Started to refine the lace, although there’s still a lot of color correcting to do there, and some detail work.  Looking forward to dabbling on Tuesday (although it will be competing with my Lost addiction, so I probably won’t be as productive!)

Work in Progress – CPSA Silent Auction

IMG_2615

I’ve been invited to participate in this year’s CPSA Silent Auction. Two years ago I also participated, and created a work using one of the alternate poses from the larger piece that was accepted that year. In that case the larger piece was Cascade, and the auction piece was Respite.  I like the idea of doing a sister piece for the silent auction – hopefully this year Opaline Dreams will be accepted, and my auction piece will be the sister piece.

Take My Art, Please

Seriously. This upcoming Friday, August 21st is the artist’s reception at Paper Kite Gallery for the “This Year the Art is TWICE as Free Exhibit”. As the title suggests, if you like any of the pieces in the show, you can have them for the bargain price of absolutely free. This is a yearly exhibit which Paper Kite Gallery does to give back to the community, and all pieces are donated by artists. I have prints of “Blue Nude” and “Haven” in the show. You can read all about the show at Paper Kite Gallery’s website.

A few tweaks

I’ve decided to give Imagekind a go.  They’re a printing/framing/shipping service which is gaining popularity with artists.  You can visit my gallery here. The prints I’ll be selling there will be open edition.   If you’ve previously bought a limited edition print from me, it will remain a limited edition (100 prints per edition) that can only be purchased directly through me, via my official website. One of the nice features of Imagekind is that you can order the print matted & framed, shipped directly to you, so be sure to check it out.
