When I started planning Bend, I had a few ideas about how to tackle all of the warm and cool colors on the Storm Blue Colorfix paper. I did some quick color sketches to see how the combinations would look on the blue paper. Attached is the small sketch which became the final color layout.

Thanks for the behind the scenes look at this amazing piece. I wondered how you came about using the colors that you did and now I know.

Would you recommend a novice use colorfix paper?

Sure! Colorfix comes in plain white if you want to try out the texture without worrying about the toned background. If you try one of the non-white colors, I ‘d recommend playing around with a test piece before diving right into a picture – some colors really misbehave on toned grounds, and others sparkle. I usually do a test palette to get a feel for how everything will look.

    Great, thanks Shawn.
