My comments: This is one of my older pieces. I originally learned colored pencil from the Anne Kullberg book on portraits, so for the first few years my backgrounds had the linear stroke technique Anne teaches in her book. This piece intentionally used a very limited palette – if you check out the Behind the Scenes section, you can see how the yellows, burgundies, and blues were built up layer by layer.
